Hello, I feel like I should introduce myself. My name is Victorine Lieske, author of the romantic suspense novel, Not What She Seems. I'm starting this blog so I can have a place to muse about writing, publishing, and being an indie author.
I decided to take the indie author plunge and make my book available on the kindle because of Joe Konrath. He posted on his blog that he was making more money putting his books on the kindle himself, than he was making in traditional publishing. That shocked me. I never knew an author could make money (and serious money) without being published by a big publishing house. Plus the control I have as an indie author is very appealing to me. It seemed like a win-win situation for me.
I've only been an indie author for about a month, so this world is new and exciting to me. I had no idea what to expect for sales. At first it was slow, one sale every other day. Now that it's been a little over a month, I've sold 90 copies so far. I'm thrilled! The best part is when people contact me and tell me they enjoyed the book. That is the coolest feeling in the world.
One thing I would like to do with this blog is share some writing tips that have come my way as I've studied the art of writing. I've been giving and getting critiques for years, and have learned a tremendous amount from that. I hope to share some of this with other writers. I love giving critiques. I've given over 600 critiques in the last few years, but it is very time consuming. Maybe if I post to this blog some of the tips I've learned, I can help other authors succeed.
I'll keep you posted on how sales are going, and anything else that comes into my head. Thanks for stopping by!
